Strong Medicine
Strong Medicine
World class nutrition consists of eating meat and vegetables, seeds and nuts, some fruit, a little starch and no sugar. Eat enough to support exercise but not body fat.
Shop around the perimeter of the grocery store and avoid the boxed, canned and otherwise processed foods in the middle.
Don’t drink sodas. At all. Period.
The amount of derangement that it does to your body and your hormones is not nearly worth gratifying your sweet tooth. We’ll look back on sodas the way people look at cigarettes now. You’re a target of a major corporation with near unlimited resources whose only goal is to get you to buy their products. They’ll say anything to keep you as a customer, and their balance sheets care nothing about your health.
Diet Sodas = Filtered Smokes
Natural Sodas = Cloves
“Have a Coke and a smile” = “Fit women prefer Virginia Slims”
Also, just accept that you’re gonna have to cook some. Don’t freak out if you equate cooking with some gourmet Iron Chef type of activity. We’ll start posting some pics of easy to cook (we’re talking minutes, not hours) meals and placing them on the site.
Also, if you are interested in digging much deeper, we are adding sections to the home page where you can find additional nutrition resources. Some will cover the basics, some will cover performance enhancing diets. What does any good program have in common? See the first paragraph above.
CrossFit is about fitness. Hard workouts help...just by suffering through these types of workouts burns calories and builds muscle. You’ll make progress.
But the strong medicine is stacking CrossFit on top of a good diet. Eat clean, workout hard, and sleep well. Not exactly rocket science. Look at it in terms of return on investment. “Invest” in those three areas and see what happens to your quality of life.
Have fun,
Justin
